M-Ocean
Fabula Branding was approached by a private Colombian school offering education based on Maria Montessori's philosophy of education and child-rearing. This is an unusual educational institution based on the idea of "free education", which implies the organization of a unique environment for natural human development. Thanks to an integrated approach to learning, children acquire a wide range of skills that help them to be happy. The client came with a request to create a holistic, attractive brand image for parents, children and teachers.
Analytics and audit
The agency analyzed the brand, consumers, competitors, market and global trends. This is how the team identified growth points. Before the rebranding, the school was perceived as a home school, in fact being a full-fledged educational institution. Communication did not convey the specifics of the approach and benefits to the audience, and the visual presentation of information made it difficult to perceive. Also, this format of education required the development of a parent community to communicate freely and receive feedback.
Positioning
Having studied the peculiarities of the school, the agency developed the positioning of Nature of Nurture. This is how the modern brand presents the idea that the ability to learn, cognize, analyze, create is given to us by nature. And the task of learning is to create an environment that helps a child to develop at his/her own pace, to try, experiment and find what is really interesting. And the most important component of this environment is the space outside the walls, where children observe natural phenomena and objects and discover a huge, beautiful world. The role of an adult in such a school is to become a guide, helping to unlock potential and grow into a healthy, harmonious person. And the real teacher for children is nature.
Name and slogan
M-Ocean is a multifaceted in terms of meanings, euphonious, charismatic name, which is a naming unpacking of the existing word Emotion in the language, because it is the key word in the history of our brand.
In the fantasy name the letter M refers to the Montessori philosophy, on which the school's teaching is based, and the word Ocean translates the naturalness and special atmosphere — free, open, natural. Like the ocean, the knowledge is vast, deep and full of discoveries just waiting to be made.
Name was the inspiration for the brand's tagline — Ocean of Knowledge. Ocean of Joy, — which presents learning as an exciting journey through the boundless expanse of knowledge.
In addition, Fabula Branding developed vivid communications that reveal the image and philosophy of the school.
Identity
At the heart of the identity are the letters M and O, which the agency's designers turned into charismatic characters. They appear in the logo and corporate style, bringing the brand to life, filling it with childlike directness and cheerful mood.
Both adults and children can fall in love with the bright palette based on the combination of juicy green shades with yellow, red, pink and blue. The saturation makes it easy to identify the colors even for the youngest, and the harmony pleases the eye. The use of concise, grotesque fonts allowed the designers to easily create different shapes without sacrificing further development and scaling of the brand. The agency also branded a variety of mediums adapted for different audiences, yet still communicating M-Ocean's character in a cohesive way.
